Anna Marie LaChance

3rd Year PhD Student, Dr. Sun Lab

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Hi! I hail from Wolcott, CT and went to UConn as an undergrad. I got a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and minored in both Mathematics and Materials Science & Engineering, earning Dean’s List status in five of my eight semesters. I went into higher education to research environmentally-sound polymeric materials, and also to pursue my goals of becoming a professor someday. I’m studying polymer coatings in Dr. Luyi Sun’s lab and I plan to apply this group’s technology to food packaging so we can eliminate unnecessary food waste around the world. As for hobbies, I love music of all genres and all time periods, with a record collection of 400 LPs and growing. I also enjoy staying engaged in the politics of the day and tutoring any students who are in need.
